Rudiments; starting with the double stroke roll exercise ... remember this sticking pattern, right-right left-left, usually written R R L L This sticking pattern is continuous throughout the exercise. Don't give up, it does take perseverance.
Rudiments like the double stroke roll are an ongoing exercise and it takes time & commitment to develop good technique and speed. Controlling your rebound (the bounce off the pad or skin) is of great importance.
Practise slowly at first leading (starting) with your right hand R R L L and repeat them as many times as you can every day. Then start to lead the exercises with your left hand L L R R to strengthen your left hand technique (it's usually harder!)
Paradiddles are another great rudiment that will greatly enhance your skills as a drummer and something that you need to practise regularly. The sticking pattern for paradiddles is R L R R then L R L L and continuous.
Dedicate as much time as you can to these exercises always starting slowly to get used to the pattern and only increasing your metronome speed when you can play the whole exercise comfortably ... R L R R L R L L R L R R L R L L
