In lesson nine you'll notice it's a review and reference for what has been looked at so far in the way of notes and rests on the snare drum.


Also note that the Quaver (1/8th note) is showing how the 1/8th note looks like on it's own. When two or more 1/8th notes follow each other, a single line can cross the top of them to link them together, much simpler than having curly tails for each and every note.


Same goes for the 1/16th note. The semi-quaver has 2 curly tails and when 2 or more 1/16th notes follow each other, two lines, one below the other can join them up. The rest hasn't been added as we'll look at that a bit later.
